Los Angeles alternative band Dummy have released “N of 1”, the latest preview of their third album, do you love the color of the sky?, and announced a UK and European headline tour for January 2027.
The album arrives this Friday, 16 October, via Polyvinyl. For anyone drawn to the edges where shoegaze, post-punk and electronic music overlap, Dummy are a band worth keeping an eye on.
Guitar drones meet breakbeats
“N of 1” follows earlier previews “April Limousine”, “Alluvial Fan” and “Full Spectrum Dominance”. The band have described the new track as engaging with the normalisation of surveillance, while guitarist Joe Trainor has spoken about reworking slow-moving guitar textures against jungle-influenced drums.
That contrast is an intriguing prospect: not simply loud guitars over a beat, but the possibility of something dreamlike being pulled apart and rebuilt in motion. We’ll reserve judgement on how it all works together until we’ve spent time with the full album.
Dummy return to the UK in January
The newly announced run begins in Bristol on 21 January 2027 before taking in Leeds, Dublin, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and London. The wider itinerary continues into mainland Europe, including dates in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Fans should consult official listings for venues, tickets and any changes.
With a new album just days away and a return to British stages confirmed, this is a good moment to discover Dummy if they’ve passed you by. Their willingness to blur guitar music with electronic rhythms feels at home alongside the more adventurous sounds we follow, from new guitar bands on our grassroots radar to established alternative acts pushing beyond familiar formulas.
