Scott Drury — editor, songwriter and producer
I’m Scott Drury, the editor behind Imminent Infinity, based in Halstead, Essex. I write about the records I listen to, the gigs I attend and the independent artists I want more people to hear.
I also write, play guitar, record and release my own music. Through Infinity Studios, that interest extends to production and mixing: how an arrangement develops, how instruments fit together and why a performance connects.
British guitar music is where I feel most at home. Oasis, indie rock and alternative music shaped my taste, but the point of listening is to discover something beyond what I already know.
Hear the music behind the words
My releases include Mighty Quinn on Apple Music and F.K on Amazon Music. They give readers a way to explore my work as a musician alongside my writing.
What you can expect from my reviews
A review should explain what I heard and why it mattered to me. That means discussing individual songs, performances, arrangements and production choices, as well as the overall experience of listening.
My taste is part of the verdict. If a style is outside my usual listening, or a piece captures a first impression, I will say so. Scores express a personal judgment; they are not a measure of how much everybody else should enjoy a record.
News reporting and reviews serve different purposes. Factual claims need reliable sources; musical opinions need clear reasons. Information about recording sessions and production credits should be attributed rather than presented as something I could know just by listening.
Independent artists and live music
The Grassroots section covers emerging artists and the venues and communities supporting them. Interviews and gig coverage give us opportunities to hear directly from musicians and report what we experience ourselves.
Editorial independence and contact
Imminent Infinity is an independent publication. The studio and editorial work share a musical background, and relevant connections should be disclosed. Read our editorial and submissions policy for our approach to access, commercial relationships and corrections.
