Everything But The Girl have announced Blue Reservoir, a new album arriving on 19 February 2027 through Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group. Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt have also shared the first single, “Young and Dumb”, revealing a more intimate, guitar-led direction than their 2023 comeback album Fuse.
From the Moth Club to a new album
The record grew out of the duo’s intimate shows at London’s Moth Club. Rather than chasing the scale of their best-known electronic material, Thorn and Watt have drawn on the direct connection of a small room, with guitar and voice at the centre.
That shift is particularly striking after Fuse. It’s a different path from the electronic reinventions we’ve been following in Hot Chip’s latest album announcement and CHVRCHES’ return. Fuse itself marked the duo’s return to recording together after a 24-year gap. The new single’s Spanish guitar sets the tone immediately, while its reflections on youth and getting older give the song an emotional focus.
Guitar, voice and the sound of a room
Watt used a nylon-string Spanish guitar as a key writing instrument, with much of the album recorded live at RAK Studios in London. Double bassist Rex Horan, drummer Evan Jenkins and percussionist Fabio de Oliveira contributed to the sessions. The “Young and Dumb” video was filmed at the Moth Club, bringing the album’s inspiration full circle.
For a group whose career has moved between acoustic songwriting, sophisticated pop and dance music, this is less a simple return to the past than a fresh decision about how they want their music to feel now.
2027 shows and release date
Blue Reservoir is due on 19 February 2027. The duo have also announced May 2027 performances in London, Bristol and Manchester, with tickets for the newly announced dates going on sale on 30 October.
