Indie duo Prima Queen have announced their second album, A Touch Of Divine, due on 26 February 2027 via Submarine Cat Records. They have also released “Alanis Morissette”, a new single that turns the anger of heartbreak into a candid, guitar-led song.
Giving anger a voice
The duo say the song emerged from a conversation about the difference between sadness and anger after a relationship ends. It also draws on the spirit of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”, with female friendship playing an important part in the song’s emotional perspective.
For another example of guitar-led British indie finding fresh momentum, see our coverage of The Snuts’ fourth album and Hank’s DIY rise. “Alanis Morissette” follows September single “Dirty Rascal” and offers another indication of where the band are heading after their 2025 debut album The Prize.
A bolder second record
Prima Queen worked with producer Oli Deakin, who has also worked with CMAT. The forthcoming album builds on the duo’s acoustic and country-tinged foundations while allowing more experimentation and confidence into the arrangements.
That combination of sharp songwriting and a developing sonic identity makes this a release worth following rather than simply another date for the calendar.
Release date and live dates
A Touch Of Divine arrives on 26 February 2027. Prima Queen have also announced a series of in-store appearances around the release, including Kingston, Liverpool, Oxford, London and Southampton, with additional dates expected.
