King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have announced a return to the UK in June 2027, with a run of shows that includes a sizeable outdoor headline appearance at Bristol Sounds. For a band that treats genre boundaries as suggestions rather than rules, the prospect of another British tour is more interesting than a conventional greatest-hits exercise.

King Gizzard return to Bristol

The Melbourne six-piece will headline Bristol Sounds at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre on Wednesday 23 June 2027. The open-air show has a reported capacity of 5,000 and marks a considerable step up from the band’s first Bristol appearance at The Fleece, where they played to a crowd of just over 400 around twelve years earlier.

It’s a fitting progression for a group whose catalogue has moved through garage rock, psychedelia, metal and electronic experimentation without settling into any one of them. Bristol has seen that evolution at close quarters: the band also played the Bristol Beacon in 2024.

2027 UK dates

The announced UK itinerary includes London’s Eventim Apollo on 20 June, Manchester’s BEC Arena Outdoors on 22 June and Bristol Sounds on 23 June, following European festival and headline dates. Fans should consult official venue and promoter listings for ticket availability and any subsequent additions or changes.

More than a nostalgia show

Part of King Gizzard’s appeal is that their live shows rarely feel like a fixed museum piece. For another take on adventurous psychedelic rock, read our Flaming Lips album and London shows coverage. The group’s constant shifts in sound mean even familiar material can sit beside something dramatically different. Their 2027 return offers UK audiences another opportunity to hear how those contrasting musical worlds coexist onstage.

For Bristol, the story is particularly striking: a band once playing a relatively small club is now preparing for one of the city’s major summer outdoor concerts. That’s a live-music success story worth paying attention to.
