Irish alternative-rock quartet Indigos Ego have released their new single ‘Following’ today, Friday 6 November, as they continue building towards their second album.
The Cavan band describe the track as a reflection on uncertainty about the future and the reassurance found in the people around us. It is the fourth single taken from the forthcoming record, following ‘Lights Out’, ‘Space Invaders’ and ‘Little Wins’.
Atmosphere and connection
According to the band’s release announcement, ‘Following’ opens with atmospheric guitar before developing a spacious, post-rock-influenced sound. Dual vocals are intended to reinforce the song’s themes of connection and shared experience.
Indigos Ego cite The Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos and Biffy Clyro among their influences — a combination that suggests an interest in both expressive songwriting and the heavier, more expansive side of alternative rock.
The group consists of Anne O’Reilly, Barry Carmichael, Mark Johnston and Paddy Fitzhenry. Their debut album, Dark Waters, arrived in 2025, and the follow-up is expected later in 2026, although a firm release date has not been confirmed in the reporting reviewed for this article.
A developing Irish alternative-rock band
The band were finalists in Shannonside Northern Sound’s A New Local Hero competition, where they performed ‘Little Wins’. They also appeared at the Marquee in Drumlish in August.
For listeners following emerging guitar music beyond the usual festival headliners, Indigos Ego are a name worth investigating. We have also followed Irish newcomers Madra Salach and their debut album announcement, alongside Kent’s emerging band studio20. ‘Following’ is available on music platforms from today.
This is a release announcement, not an Imminent Infinity track review. We have not assigned a score or claimed a first-hand listening assessment.
