Fontaines D.C.’s collaboration with Rosalía, Where Is Gone?, has reached fans ahead of the release of the Irish band’s fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, on 16 October.
The track was first announced in September, but special album listening events on 8 October offered an early chance to hear it. A limited-edition white-label seven-inch was also made available at participating shops, while supplies lasted.
A new direction, not a sudden departure
The collaboration is notable as Fontaines D.C.’s first guest feature on a studio album. Guitarist Carlos O’Connell has spoken about a shared interest with Rosalía in drawing on national musical traditions. Rather than assuming the pairing is a wholesale reinvention, it is worth hearing it alongside the band’s recent experiments.
Imminent Infinity has already followed that evolution through our look at Tongue and the chart progress of Marianne. The band also recently announced a London Roundhouse show supporting CALM.
Early listening-party reactions are encouraging, but they remain individual first impressions rather than a critical consensus. The full album arrived on 16 October. Read our Dopamine Chamber album review for how the collaboration fits into the record as a whole.
