For GANS, the next step isn’t simply to repeat what worked the first time. The West Midlands duo have announced a self-titled second album, unveiled the single My God Is A Stranger and are preparing for another run through Britain’s independent venues.

GANS’ second album: a bigger sound, with personal stakes

Thomas Rhodes and Euan Woodman built their reputation on restless live energy, but their follow-up to 2025’s Good For The Soul is being presented as a broader sonic statement. Written during a stay in the Netherlands and produced by Youth in southern Spain, the new record is described as moving further into electronic territory.

The band say relationship break-ups during the writing process shaped the record. On My God Is A Stranger, the search for connection is tangled up with spirituality and uncertainty. Rather than reducing the song to autobiography, it’s worth watching how the pair turn those themes into music designed to work on stage.

The independent circuit still matters

Their October itinerary includes Aberdeen’s Tunnels on 8 October, Liverpool’s Rough Trade on 9 October, Sheffield’s Yellow Arch on 10 October and the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge on 14 October. Ticket listings confirm multiple dates, although fans should check individual venues for changes.

It’s an instructive route for a band on the move: a new album campaign backed not just by online attention but by repeated visits to rooms where audiences can get close enough to feel the songs develop. The single’s accompanying self-directed live video, filmed at London’s Vaults, reinforces that performance-first identity.

The self-titled album is announced for 26 February 2027 through Strap Originals. Between now and then, the tour offers a chance to hear what their expanding sound can do away from the studio.

We are also following Fright Years’ next releases and live shows, another developing band taking new material onto the independent circuit.
